Where We Work

Located in Concord, Ca the Michael Chavez Center is at the heart of one of the most densely populated, poorest communities in the Bay Area. With nearly a quarter of Concord residents living in this one neighborhood, there arises a great urgency for social change. The Chavez Center roots itself within the community to directly provide resources to those in need.

Monument community residents find themselves largely isolated from the broader community as they lack the information, transportation, and other means. Fortunately, we are located in a diverse area of California and are surrounded by organizations that specialize in serving minorities and disadvantaged residents. From English classes to legal rights, from health care services to drug awareness, many organizations frequent the Chavez Center to teach members how they can fulfill the numerous needs that they face in their lives so that they can focus on providing for themselves.

All of the relationships that the Chavez Center has within and beyond the Monument Corridor put us in a position to extend a helping hand to a great many residents in need of support.
